Last updated October 9, 2026. This policy explains what information homebtu.com ("HomeBTU", "we") collects, how advertising on the site works and the choices you have.
Calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter, such as home size, state or energy prices, are not sent to our servers and are not stored by us.
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working and are deleted on the host's normal schedule.
We use Google AdSense to show advertising, which pays for the site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads.
If you choose not to receive personalized ads, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.
For visitors in these regions, we use a consent message provided through Google's consent management tools. Advertising cookies are only used for personalized ads if you consent. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown at the bottom of the page when consent applies.
Residents of some U.S. states, including California, have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. Where required, an opt-out link is provided through Google's messaging tools. You can also use the Google Ads Settings link above or contact us.
This site is intended for adults planning home projects. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Our pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
